Yearly Student Health Examinations

From 2024, Yearly Health Examinations in April are available by appointment only （excluding some departments）. Please see Moodle for more information,  and make an appointment in advance. All students are required to take a checkup. Be sure to take it. In addition, the venue of Health Examination is only Health Care Center in KUROKAMI north campus.  

Note: the students of Honjo, Oe, Kuhonji campus are also required to take the examination at Health Care Center in KUROKAMI.

○Schedule

Yearly student health examinations are performed every April at the Health Care Center. All students should be sure to receive theirs. Students who do not take an examination are not eligible to receive a proof of health examination certificate for job-seeking, academic advancement, or scholarship purposes. In addition, students in the schools of medical, pharmacy, education, etc. who have not had their health examination are not allowed to participate in hospital or educational practical studies.

Content of the Health Examination

Height and weight measurement, blood pressure measurement, internal examination, chest x-ray (only for specified students), urine analysis (only for specified students)

Medical questionnaire     It is necessary for an internal examination.

The following students must have chest X-rays taken

  • First year students
  • Students in their first year at Kumamoto University (Transfer students, new graduate students who previously attended another university)
  • Students who plan to do their hospital practical work during the academic year
  • Students who plan to do their educational practical work during the academic year
    • Medical School (Medical Studies programs) first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth year students
    • Medical School (Health Care Studies programs) first, second, third, and fourth year students, and graduate students who will do their hospital practical work
    • Pharmacy School first and fifth year students, and graduate students who will do their hospital practical work
    • Educational School first, second, third, and fourth year students
    • Students in all departments who will do an educational practical work during the academic year

Receiving Proof of Health Examination

The examination results  can be checked via the certification issuing system (personal health examination records) in the Portal Site of Kumamoto University after completing all health examination items. You can apply using University Portal Site, and pick up the issued form at the office academic affairs of your respective department. The result of previous year can be issued before completing all health examination items.

Mental Health Questionnaire

The Kumamoto University Health Care Center also conducts a questionnaire  about mental health at the same time that yearly health examinations are held in order to help improve the mental health of our students. Please be sure to answer it on Moodle.
